How a PaTH Internship can benefit your business and young jobseekers

PaTH (Prepare, Trial, Hire) Internships are a new initiative that allows a young jobseeker to undertake a work experience like program to see if they are the right fit for a job in your business.

Interns work a minimum of 15 hours per week for between four and 12 weeks allowing them to showcase their skills, strengths and abilities to prove their worth to a potential employer, while gaining valuable work experience.The intern earns a bonus payment for each week worked, paid into their Centrelink benefit.

The host employer also receives a payment of $1000 to help with the cost of hosting an intern. Interns are covered by Australian Government Insurance and are unpaid by your business during this process.

Bryce Turner-Turnbull (pictured below) is one young jobseeker who has benefited from the PaTH Internship initiative.Bryce enlisted the help of Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS) to assist with his employment goal of working with cars. Having only recently completed school, Bryce had very little employment history so an internship was the perfect opportunity to gain some work experience while learning on the job.

When an opportunity was available to work at Smart Torque Automotive at Maitland, it was a perfect fit. Since stepping outside of his comfort zone, Bryce has become more confident and learnt new skills. Thanks to his experience at Smart Torque Automotive, Bryce has secured employment.
