Living Laneway 2018

26-Sep-2018

Join us as we celebrate the live installation of Mai-Wel Creative Art’s ‘Living Laneway’, a fluid fabric installation that will drape the walls of the NAB Laneway along High Street in Maitland.

Cyanotype, a photographic process founded around the time of Maitland’s founding, has been used by Mai-Wel Creative Arts artists to create the fabric installation which displays the silhouettes of local people, nestled amongst the waves of the blue fabric. The installation stretching the brick walls of the laneway between High Street and the Hunter River is a representation of connection and celebration.

The music for the ‘Living Laneway’ project is provided by Mai-Wel Creative Arts artist, Ian Mills. Ian’s exploration of soundscape using electronic music and samples showcases an eclectic mix of eerie atmospheric film soundtrack and electro pop. He also employs more traditional instruments to explore his more roots-based folk rock.

This is a FREE event, made possible by Mai-Wel Creative Arts successful application for the 'My Place Grant 2017/18' from Maitland City Council.

We hope to see you there!
