Gerald's Update - Day Thirteen

We were up early in Cooper Pedy, got all dirt bike geared-up, had a cooked breakfast at the Roadhouse and made tracks. It was still a cool 7 degrees. We made a couple of quick stops before hitting William Creek where we saw about 100 Shitbox Rally vehicles pulling up to get fuel. We continued on with Lake Eyre in our sights.

The next stretch of road was the roughest we've struck. It was slow and corrugated. The Esky mounted on the bike broke, so roadside repairs were needed. The vehicle winch mounts broke so we re-tied everything down and continued on. Then when we were nearly at Lake Eyre, Rod bogged the support vehicle. We got it out and arrived soon after at Lake Eyre. What a sight! We took some photos then jumped back along the rough road to William Creek where we camped the night. We refuelled, showered, ate a good meal at the Roadhouse, then went to bed.

We did 310 hard kilometres today.

Extreme point number three, Lake Eyre, Australia's lowest point, done! ✅
