Gerald's Update - Day Fourteen

We were up in the dark this morning to get an early start as our route has changed. We were intending to go through Birdsville but apparently the road is still closed due to all the unseasonal rain so we detoured through Alice Springs to get to Cape York.

After packing up camp and having a quick breakfast we took off up the Oodnadatta Track. We made a couple of outback rest stops before arriving at the Pink Roadhouse where we refuelled, grabbed a coffee and continued on.

The road wasn’t too bad and we arrived at Marla Roadhouse around 3pm. Over another coffee, we did some calculations and figured we should get to Kulgera before sunset so we hightailed it up the highway and arrived at 6pm. We set up camp, had tea at the Roadhouse, showered and went off to bed.

Today was a big day. We did 593 km. It was a sunny but reasonably cool day.
