Dyani’s journey to independence
Mai-Wel’s Support Coordination team worked with Dyani to support her goals to learn new skills and find a job.
As a result Dyani was encouraged to complete a transition to work program. Since completing the program, Dyani has come in leaps and bounds. She has joined mainstream employment as a part-time housekeeping team member at the Apollo International Hotel, Newcastle.
Dyani loves her job because of the friends she has made, the difference she makes, helping other people and making her own money to spend. Her favourite part of her day at work is making the beds beautifully for the guests to enjoy.
Dyani’s goal for the future is to build her confidence to get her driver licence and one day she would like to be a chef
Mai-Wel Support Coordinators play a very important role in assisting NDIS participants to build their skills in implementing choice and direction and to build resilience and capacity in order to find services that best meet their needs and goals.
