Goals on track for success with Life FUNdamentals
New year, new goals and a fresh menu of activities to achieve them – that’s how 2019 has kicked off for participants of Life FUNdamentals at The Hub in Cessnock and Maitland.
By providing a schedule of fun hands-on activities with a focus on physical wellbeing and health, community and social participation and life skill development, Life FUNdamentals gives participants choice of activities and routine.
Just some of the activities available in 2019 include barefoot bowls, Aqua Zumba, confidence in the kitchen and Chill Out social activities.
Jake is a Cessnock-based Mai-Wel participant of Life FUNdamentals activities to practice cooking, develop life skills and a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, Jake is learning to drive in the Learner Driver initiative and through Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions Step Up he is developing work-ready skills through work experience at Coles.
“Coming to Mai-Wel has meant I have more friends and I can do more things by myself,” said Jake.
Ben Bradly, Team Leader of Life FUNdamentals in Cessnock is impressed by Jake’s skill development and hopes other young people embrace the learning opportunities.
“Jake has taken the skills he has learnt and has really adapted them to his day to day life. Every day I see improvement in Jake’s confidence and independence skills,” said Ben.
