Jupiter participants embrace opportunity of the Men’s Shed

31-Aug-2018

Since 2017, a group of young men from Jupiter, Mai-Wel’s Leisure and Lifestyle initiative based at The Hill in Telarah, have been attending the Maitland Community Men’s Shed in East Maitland each Thursday where they enjoy spending time with friends and learning new skills.

The Shed provides it’s members, including our participants, with opportunities for social engagement, to share interests with other members and develop new interests and hobbies.

On recent Shed visits, the participants have been building small wooden toy cars, trucks and planes. Starting with a piece of wood, the participants carefully cut the shapes, sanded the edges and decorated the toys with paint and stickers selected specifically for the project.

The Men’s Shed is a positive environment for not only the Jupiter participants, but  all men in the area, to learn new skills and perform meaningful tasks while addressing men’s health and well-being.

For more information about Jupiter and other Mai-Wel lifestyle and leisure initiatives, please call our Support Transition and Refferal Team on 4057 2900.
