Mai-Wel Enterprises bag work with Alfabs
In November 2018, three of Mai-Wel Enterprises' (MWE) supported employees commenced working with Alfabs Group Pty Ltd at their Kurri Kurri site, bagging ground limestone for distribution to local industries.
Following a successful 3 months of work at the Kurri Kurri site seeing over 7,000 bags of limestone completed per month, Alfabs worked with MWE to have a work space moved a little closer to home. In February two large isotainers, to hold and dispense the ground limestome, were set up in MWE's newly developed industrial shed in John Street, Telarah. The new work space is bigger than the original, allowing for the project team of three supported employees to expand to five.
Mai-Wel Enterprises’ Manager, Tony Heard says the support from Alfabs has been great throughout the whole project.
“To have this employment opportunity at Mai-Wel Enterprises is a fantastic outcome for our supported employees,” he says.
Matt Torrance, Alfabs Group CEO says that, being a family operated business, their goal is to strive toward a better community.
“Seeing the effect Mai-Wel has on individuals and the local community was a large driving factor for this project.” he explains.
