PaTH Internships, paving the way for young jobseekers
Prepare, Trial, Hire!
PaTH Internships are a government initiative that commenced in April, 2017 providing young jobseekers the opportunity to show an employer their strengths and abilities, while gaining valuable work experience.
Rich Hudson, Owner of Smart Torque Automotive, wanted to give back to a young person in our community and as a result offered Bryce Turner-Turnbull an internship, coordinated by Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS).
“After being a mechanic for 35 years and travelling the world working, you get to the point where you want to give back to your local community and employing a jobseeker through Mai-Wel is one way our business can do that,” Rich said.
Bryce enlisted the help of MWLFS to assist with his employment goal of working with cars. Having only recently completed school, Bryce had very little employment history so an internship was the perfect opportunity to gain some work experience while learning on the job.
When an opportunity was available to work at Smart Torque Automotive it was a perfect fit.
“I was nervous initially but since stepping outside of my comfort zone I am becoming more confident and learning new skills,” Bryce said.
Bryce’s goals are to improve his numeracy and literacy, develop his skills for work and get his driver’s licence.Bryce attends a Numeracy and Literacy program at TAFE and participates in L’s training with MWLFS.
