Working together, Heritage Motor Group Maitland and Mai-Wel
Michael Taylor, Dealer Principal at Heritage Motor Group has been connected with The Mai-Wel Group for more than 10 years.
Through the partnership, Heritage have engaged Mai-Wel jobseekers as employees, engaged Mai-Wel Enterprises for document disposal and purchase of rags and testified to other businesses the quality of work and service that Mai-Wel Enterprises delivers.
Heritage have also sponsored fundraising events and offered VIP packages to staff and supported employees.
We took some time to ask Michael some questions about the relationship between The Mai-Wel Group and Heritage Motor Group:
Mai-Wel: How did you first hear about the Mai-Wel Group and when did your affiliation start?
Michael: Upon starting with Heritage Motor Group Maitland, I wanted to support a local cause that made a difference within the Maitland community. 10 ½ years ago I was introduced to The Mai-Wel Group and the relationship has stayed strong ever since.
MW: What benefits to your business have you noticed since taking on jobseekers from Mai-Wel?
M: It is great to see the social impact to the community and these jobseekers’ lives. Another great benefit is acquiring the hard-working staff. Heritage have endeavoured to support the training and work skill development of people with a disability and will continue to do so.
MW: What are the benefits to the jobseekers?
M: Jobseekers gained through Mai-Wel’s employment service, Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions, are able to experience the culture of having a job, along with the routine, uniform and responsibility that comes along with employment. If a jobseeker is well suited to the work at Heritage, we continue to provide on-the-job training with the opportunity to move into full time work. Heritage Motor Group Maitland provides a supportive environment that allows Mai-Wel jobseekers to feel motivated and comfortable.
MW: What is it about Mai-Wel that inspires Heritage’s continued support?
M: Heritage Motor Group Maitland have always been impressed with the work that The Mai-Wel Group has done in the Hunter. Since Heritage first became affiliated with Mai-Wel, the organisation has expanded greatly and now provide even more services to people with a disability and youth facing barriers. Mai-Wel continues to strive “to meet the aspirations and goals of the individual by delivering opportunity and choice, innovative services and viable businesses” which is something Heritage Motor Group have in common with Mai-Wel.
