The perfect recruitment brew!

Crema Coffee Garage approached Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions (MWLFS) in 2013 to help with recruiting a new staff member. Owners of Crema Coffee, Tim and Jane Peters, were recruiting for a Product Packager and Factory Hand for their warehouse in Newcastle.

 

Tim and Jane run a successful coffee business, specialising in coffee roasting, machines, training and café equipment. MWLFS identified a suitable candidate, Jacob, and were able to modify the recruitment process to include a practical component. This allowed Jacob to attend the workplace and complete the duties associated with the role, providing him with the opportunity to experience the role and working environment firsthand. 

This style of recruitment also gave Crema Coffee Garage the opportunity to see if Jacob had what they were after.

Providing the opportunity for demonstration, rather than an interview alone allowed Jacob to excel and prove that he was suitable for the role. After three years of working with Crema, Jacob decided to leave to pursue study. Tim from Crema contacted MWLFS to assist with recruiting for a replacement staff member.

MWLFS were able to work with Crema to set up interviews with a practical component to ensure jobseekers were well suited to the role.

Paul has been in the role since mid-February and has a post placement support person, Maddi, who works with him twice a week to ensure he settles into the role.
