Thomas thrives in new role
Thomas commenced in his job in October 2017 and was supported by MWLFS to ensure a smooth transition to employment. Through transport assistance and on the job support he has learnt his tasks and became familiar with safety procedures.
In addition, MWLFS assisted Thomas to pay for and complete his NSW White Card. This qualification has allowed him to expand his skills and employability, moving to the ground maintenance crew where some of his tasks include whipper snipping, rubbish pick up, weeding and plant trimming.
Before Thomas was supported to find employment under the supported wage system, he learnt work-ready skills by participating in MWLFS’ Step Up and Disability Employment Services.
Thomas is a very enthusiastic and motivated employee who is keen to learn new skills. His confidence and productivity has increased since commencing employment.
Thomas says he enjoys working with his colleagues and helping out where possible when he feels they need an extra hand completing a task.
“It's a fantastic job and I work with great people. It's given me the opportunity to increase my independence and gain new skills,” says Thomas.
“I have found Mai-Wel to be very supportive and helpful in assisting me to reach my goals. I am very thankful for the continuous support that I receive.”
