Artificial Intelligence raises funds for The Mai-Wel Group
Eager guests filled Maitland Town Hall on 10th August for Mai-Wel’s 15th Annual Celebrity Comedy Debate, proudly presented by DFK Crosbie, where teams of celebrity comedians and local personalities took on the controversial topic; ‘Artificial intelligence: friend or foe’.
The gripping arguments and laughs delivered by our comedians lead the crowd to agree with the Negative Team that Artificial Intelligence is in fact our foe.
The evening raised more than $7,000 which will be allocated to the development of a much needed sensory garden and sensory rooms for participants with complex/high support needs at Mai-Wel’s lifestyle and leisure centre, The Hill in Telarah.
CEO of The Mai-Wel Group, Lynne Graham spoke about how the funds will be used this year.
“It is facilities like these which are so vital, yet there are simply not enough of in our community at the moment. I am looking forward to the development of both the sensory garden and sensory rooms which will provide opportunities for people with a disability to experience a space that will both stimulate and calm their senses”.
Since its inception, The Mai-Wel Celebrity Comedy Debate has become a hot ticket item on the Hunter’s social calendar and is one of two major fundraising events held annually by The Mai-Wel Group.
Thanks to our comedians Jean Kittson, Jeff Green, Nisheeth Agrawal, Nick Gill, Matt Newcombe, Kellie Mills and MC Craig McGregor for making the night a big success on stage.
