Creatives celebrate Diversity with month-long exhibition
Off the back of another year of creativity in the studio, Mai-Wel Creative Arts (Creative Arts) are preparing to showcase Diversity at Cessnock Regional ArtGallery (CRAG) on 4th December, closing 30th December.
As the name suggests, the exhibition includes a range of art pieces of different influences and mediums, celebrating the diversity of the Creative Arts supported studio, the artists who access it and the community that supports it.
“Throughout 2018, our artists have taken inspiration from various cultures, time periods and artistic movements resulting in vastly diverse works,” says Steve Burchill, Facilitator of Mai-Wel Creative Arts.
“The artists have really given their all to bring together this amazing exhibition.
The Official Opening of Cessnock Includes You 2018, exhibition Diversity is set for 2pm on Saturday, 8th December at CRAG. This event is an opportunity to view the art pieces and meet some of the contributing artists over a glass of wine.
“Our Official Opening will be a relaxed celebration of our artists work. It is a free event and everyone is welcome to come along.”
The exhibition pieces, including sculpture, painting and installation art, have been created in the supported studio sessions at The Hub Cessnock and The Hub Maitland.
Diversity is part of ‘Cessnock Includes You’, a concept developed in 2016 by the International Day of People with Disability committee in Cessnock, that aims to promote a city-wide approach to supporting opportunity and choice for people with disability.
During the exhibition dates (4th to 30th December) the exhibition will be open for public visits between 10am and 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
