Cessnock gets Gleefull!

Gleefull is an all-inclusive performance group open to people of all ages and abilities, who love to sing, dance and perform.

The first Gleefull Performance Group session will commence THIS Wednesday, 22nd April at The Hub, Cessnock from 4:30pm.

Gleefull is an initiative of Mai-Wel’s Creative Arts Program, which promotes a socially inclusive society via a variety of creative. Gleefull is a fun, energetic and welcoming performance group, where everyone can find a place.

Gleefull began in December 2012 when Greg Banister, a Mai-Wel participant wanted to share with others, his passion of singing and dancing with others. Gleefull encourages participants to be creative, to explore self-expression, to learn new skills but most importantly it’s about having fun. Creative Arts Coordinator, Steve Burchill is excited about the launch.

“I am eager to expand Gleefull to Cessnock after seeing what opportunities and creative experiences the Maitland group have had over the last two years,” said Steve.

“Participants of Gleefull have had the opportunity to perform with Marcia Hines at the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony, perform an inclusive musical production of Grease for International Day of People with a Disability and host regular local events in the community. We promote and inspire our local community to openly support inclusive arts through all that we do”.

“Establishing a Cessnock extension of the Gleefull Performance Group will provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities in Cessnock to get involved in the inclusive arts community”.
