Transition To Work
Transition to Work is for young people aged 15 to 21 years and is targeted to early school leavers and young people who have experienced difficulty transitioning from education to employment. All young Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible. Young people don’t need to be receiving income support to participate in this service. More information about eligibility is at www.jobs.gov.au/youth.
Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions is your local Transition to Work provider, covering the Maitland, Kurri Kurri and Cessnock areas.
Our staff are experienced in working to identify and break down the barriers to finding a job and to enable you to achieve your vocational goals. We will work with you to improve your skills, develop your work readiness and help you into work or education.
What assistance can you expect from us?
- We will contact you within 24 hours of receiving a referral and arrange a meeting with you at one of our offices.
- You will be assigned a Youth Support Mentor who will work with you to develop an understanding of what your goals are and provide support for you to get a job. At Mai-Wel we want to know who you are, what you’re interested in and what motivates you. During the first four weeks of receiving Transition to Work services, we will work with you to identify your employment goals, spend the time required to identify your strengths, work out what skills you have and what additional skills development you may require to assist you to secure employment.
- We will develop an initial Job Plan for you that will set out the services you will receive and the activities you have chosen to improve your job readiness.
If you interested, please complete our online form and we will be in contact within 24 hours.
